Be Strong in the Lord

Most of us know what it means to be locked in spiritual warfare. There are times when even the strongest believer will be tempted to give up in the battle. That's why we need to pray for one another. Prayer defeats the enemy right where he stands. Prayer also encourages the hearts of those in the heat of battle.

Spiritual battle can either be a source of great joy for you or the cause of your deepest pain.  I implore you to choose to allow a spiritual battle to be the source of your greatest joy and determination. When the enemy attacks, stand firm in your faith by claiming God's armor and protection.

In your battle, remember to run to Jesus, our Savior, for support and help.  He is our Defender. He is our Shield. Always recount Christ's victory over the cross and death.  The only solution to any problem you may be facing, any spiritual battle, is Jesus Christ.  He has the power you need to overcome the enemy's attacks and memories of past defeats.

The Means of Grace

bulletHoly Communion - The sacrament is in the center of the life of the community of faith. In this cup is the real presence of our Lord.
bulletPublic Worship - The Book of Discipline spells out "the church exists for the maintenance of worship."
bulletMinistry of the Word - Studying the Bible, hearing sermons which explore the Scriptures, are all ways to encounter the living God in the living Word.
bulletFamily and Private Prayer - Give seasons to prayer, these are conversations with God.
bulletFasting - Fasting helps with prayer and with identifying with the hungry; God commands fasting and promises to reward it.
bulletConferencing - Early leaders were called together for accountability and conversation and conferencing about what to teach and what to teach.
bulletWorks of Mercy - God is pleased to convey grace even beyond the ordinary ordinances of GOD. Cloth the naked, feed the hungry! refresh the thirsty! Visit the prisoner! Welcome the stranger! (Matt. 25:31-46). These works are no way to God, there is no power in good deeds. But when we do all the good we can, God can pour out abundant gifts.
